What is Edge Elite Athlete Training?
“I joined Edge two years ago. I was the smallest guy on my football team. With the nutrition and training help from the Coaches at Edge, I gained 35lbs, and got the most touchdowns on freshman team. I owe a lot of this to the strength and speed I got from training here”
-Tristan A, CGMS, CGHS
“Edge has done more for me than any other program I have ever been enrolled in. I have learned how to lift properly to benefit my strength, balance, speed, and overall conditioning. Many people lift and lift and lift and get results but when they go to move their body they struggle to do real world tasks with their strength. Starting at the beginning of my experience, I realized it wasn’t just lifting that would improve my performance as an athlete. Mike designed a plan for me to change my lifestyle. I was already eating healthy, but I learned how to eat properly to perform. Mike created a great meal plan that kept my body properly fueled for excellent output in the gym and on the track. I learned how to keep my body safe from injury through mobility techniques like stretching and rolling out. I learned how to handle injury and how easily it can be prevented. What mike taught me that I took most importantly is that we are in control of our lives. We control the weight we lift. We control what we eat.”

Justin started Edge nearly two years ago in July 2015. In that time, he’s lost over 15lbs of fat, and added 20lbs of lean muscle. His wrestling coach himself said that Justin is the “strongest and best wrestler on the team”. Proper nutrition and smart, progressive training got him there.
Cary Grove Middle and High School
Eric Barone, State Champ from Crystal Lake South, trained at Edge for two years. In-season training kept him strong and healthy, and off-season training got him stronger and more powerful. The result? He moved up the chain for two years to take the title of State Champ. Eric now trains at a Division one University for Wrestling.
The Edge Elite Athlete training program has been designed from the ground up to take you to the next level, whether you’re just going into middle school, high school, or about to play in college.
From day one, you will be given exactly what you need to get results as quickly as possible.
Using our exclusive assessment process, every athlete is provided with a customized program for their goals, needs and abilities. This customization will make sure your current strengths are maintained and your weaknesses corrected.
Every training session will include:
Mobility and flexibility training so you can move better and stay healthy
Speed & agility training so you can accelerate and change direction as quickly as possible – 10x faster than the competition
Power development training so you can be the most explosive player around – play after play
Strength training so you can always have the upper hand. With all else equal, the stronger athlete will ALWAYS win.
Unlike other programs where kids are left to learn on their own, we make sure every athlete gets the individual attention they need to master these skills and get the most benefit. Every 60-minute session has a maximum of 6 athletes per coach. Off-season athletes may train between 2-4x per week, and in-season can train between 1-3x per week.
With the Edge Fitness High School program, you will head into your next season a completely different athlete – better prepared, more confident, and ready to dominate.

What will I get from training at Edge Fitness & Performance?
Using the Edge Elite Athlete Principles, we help athletes:
Develop a Growth Mindset:
Athletes at all levels need to have the mental skills needed to succeed. Psychologically, an athlete is made or broken before he steps foot on the field, and at Edge we understand that the key to overcoming these obstacles is to develop a growth mindset.
- The Growth Mindset teaches these athletes skills, such as
- Overcoming failure and the obstacles that comes with it
- Learning from mistakes, and using them to forge success
- Dealing with success
Learn Athlete Based Nutrition:
Any high school athlete looking to succeed should understand some basics on how to eat – both for performance and to be lean and muscular. Fat slows down an athlete, and the food choices that lead to being. Eating clean will help with all aspects of an athlete’s career, in the classroom and in on the field.
Learn Smart Training Habits:
Most athlete learn their training habits from the high school weight room, and this often means grueling workouts with too much weight and not enough intelligence. Our athletes understand that hard work is sometimes NOT doing the crazy, new workout with too much weight.
Most high school students and athletes live very stressful lives, and simply do not do what they need to in order to recover. Sleeping better, destressing, and using proper physical recovery methods will mean better performance and less injuries, all season long.
How do I get started?
Before training at Edge, every athlete will go through a thorough assessment. The assessment includes:
- Goal setting session where the athlete can work with a coach to set their short- and long-term goals
- Movement Screening during First session revealing where athletes need to improve to stay injury free and get faster and stronger.
- Nutrition Assessment to make sure all the hard training is put to good use by making proper choices with their food
- Program Selection where the coach, parent and athlete will work together to find the optimal program
After this one-hour process, the athlete and their family will know exactly what they need to work on to be their absolute best.
What training options do I have?
We currently offer Middle School and High School Training in monthly and annual plans. All programs can be modified to the athlete’s current season.
There are training options available for all budgets.
